Postcarding in 2023
In 2023, Postcards4VA continued to build upon the four principles we initiated last year based on our experiences since 2017, the current research on messaging, and the best use and potential impact of handwritten political postcards.
2023 Principles
- Postcard campaigns start now and are not exclusively GOTV
- Postcards are part of the long game in building a lasting blue infrastructure
- Postcard campaigns are regionalized in terms of postcard design and messaging
- Postcards are integrated into other messaging and outreach efforts such as canvassing, billboards, radio, yard signs, digital, letters to the editors, etc.
ABOUT: Postcards4VA is a grassroots initiative to connect with friends, neighbors, and voters throughout the state of Virginia asking them to vote. In 2017 we wrote 137,000 postcards to Virginia voters. In 2018 we exceeded 332,000 postcards. In 2019 we wrote 253,000 postcards and helped flip Virginia blue by taking back the majority in the both houses. When the pandemic hit in 2020, postcard groups stepped up and wrote almost a half million postcards. In 2021, we wrote 320,000 postcards and in 2022 we wrote 307,000. In 2023 we are ALL IN to WIN Virginia. We write. We Vote. We WIN!
